Bengaluru, Mar 13: Former chief minister and State JD(S) President H D Kumaraswamy has threatened to release more incriminating documents pertaining to the Eagleton Resort during the previous Congress rule.
Speaking to media persons at the Sri Revanasiddeshwara Hill in Ramanagara district on Sunday, March 13, the JD(S) leader asked what was wrong in exposing illegalities and other irregularities pertaining to the Eagleton Resort during the previous Congress rule and asserted that he has not indulged in any illegal activities like selling granite or irregularities like cheating poor people to snatch their lands or kidnap children to get signatures from the parents to loot their valuable lands.
Without directly naming anybody, Kumaraswamy trained his guns on KPCC Chief D K Shivakumar’s brother and Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh for his tirade against the Eagleton resort and declared that he would never remain silent when irregularities and injustice take place.
“I have merely raised the issue of injustice and spoken about irrigation issues on the floor of the State Assembly. Several burning issues like Mekedatu, Yettinahole, Upper Krishna, Naville Dam and other projects and scams have been raised by me,’’ he said and wondered why the Congress leader did not talk about the irrigation issues and has only singled out criticism against the Eagleton Resort scam.
The former chief minister wanted to know who is behind levying an exorbitant fine on of Rs 982 crore when required to pay a bill of Rs 98,000.
“It is my duty as MLA of Ramanagara to raise uncomfortable questions. I cannot remain silent when injustice is done and justify irregularities,’’ he said and vowed to expose injustice and irregularities by anybody and added: ``I know all the sordid details of various scams in Kanakapura and the destruction of families of farmers. I am going to release documents in due course.’’
Kumaraswamy said he had discussed all issues pertaining to irrigation projects and the injustice done to Karnataka by the two national parties of Congress and BJP during my three-hour long speech. ``I have spoken about all these issues on the floor of Assembly. I am not afraid of anybody,’’ he declared.
He said the previous Congress government had committed gross irregularities on the Eagleton Resort and even forced officials to levy fines flouting court orders.
“I don’t need anybody’s permission to visit Ramanagara or Channapatna. I know my work and contribution for the development of these areas. I have worked for the development of the entire Ramanagara district and the State without any discrimination. People know me and my work,’’ he said.
The JD(S) leader said he is not worried about the assembly polls in 2023 and claimed that the people will bless his party.
Answering questions, he said JD(S) will welcome anybody joining the party if they believe in party policies and ideology. “I am in politics and many people and leaders of different parties meet me. There are people who will join us at the appropriate time. I have not asked anybody to join the party tomorrow itself. Things will happen as election nears. I am not in a hurry,’’ he added.
