Bantwal, Jan 19: A musical concert by promising Konkani singer Kevin Misquith was held at Our Lady of Loreto parish, near here, recently.  The musical concert was staged to mark the centenary celebrations of Loreto parish and 50th birthday celebration of its parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto.

The concert began with the songs ‘Moja Anja’ by Kevin Misquith, ‘Yo Moga’, ‘Naach Bindas’, ‘Kenna Kenna’, ‘Kalza Thar’, ‘Tuka Chintha Chinthana’, ‘Hee Jean’ by musicians Royston Pinto, Robin Sequeira, and Lavita Lobo.

‘Milestone’ band provided the playback music along with singers Ashwini Sequeira, Avin Mascarenhas, Jackson Noronha, Jason D’Souza, Patson Pereira, Dafnal Concesso, and Floyd Pereira.

It was a youthful concert with the new generation of Konkani singers performing their maiden show at the concert.  It was an innovative experiment by up and coming singer Kevin.

Milestone music troupe promoted by Kevin plans to stage many concerts in the interior regions of Mangalore diocese.  It seeks the support of Konkani associations, parishes, and well-wishers to stage their innovative musical concert.

Kevin will perform in Tallur of Kundapur taluk in Udupi district on Wednesday February 2.

Kevin was felicitated by Fr Pinto during the interval at the concert that was witnessed by over 1,500 people.

Dear friends don’t try to show Konkani’s true colour to the world in discussing unwanted things. If some one is interested let him go & watch, if not keep quite. Don’t try to teach the artist or the organizer what all things should be included in the musical show. As a individual you are not doing anything & not allowing someone to do either. You people are really great.

Dear Dany its not necessary to have MC's and jokes in a musical nite its not a comedy show as mentioned in one of the comment earlier, and you have said only same singers repeating in the show watch some other show its not enough if you watch only konkani shows don't be a frog in the well come out of the well, In other shows(except konkani) only one singer sings for 3 hrs no jokes no MC etc etc, that standard of music is not in our shows, for example go to Alva's nudisiri progrrame in Moodbidri and see their standards they don't use chep tactics like jokes to entertain people its quality show, these guys also trying to bring in quality in konkani shows I have watched their before shows in Mangalore they are good you yourself in your comment have mentioned in the first line that SONGS ARE GOOD what does that mean?? only because jokes, MC and many singers not there nite is incomplete or not good?? watch good shows outside konkani also you will improve your knowledge and idea of music.(also there are other comments on this page appreciating their show so please don't make general statements)

Its a good point made by Johnson but its a fact that many of our music shows having nothing except jokes in it and people enjoy only the jokes part not because their taste is not good but the quality of music is as such that there is nothing to enjoy in harmony as you say, even many singers use these jokes simply because they are incapable to entertain people only with their music which is not the case in national or international concerts as you say, its not enough if we blame listeners to raise their standards our artists also should grow as music
composers and performers, Its great to see Kevin and his team attempting it, the fact that he has performed his shows without the so called "pokana" itself shows his caliber and quality as a musician, great going Kevin keep it up!!

The songs were good. and overall performance is not standard. No singers no MC.i think in 1.45hrs show only 4 singers repeating all the time and singers wont leave the stage after their song they getting ready for next song he only announcing next song is sung by me.have to improve on it. need jokes for entertainment. people will attend these kind of program mes for entertainment.if you continue same i wont think for this kind of night people give response

Its not necessary to have jokes in music nights, its a music concert and not a comedy show, many times jokes spoil the mood of a music concert, people who say jokes are part of music events should watch music concerts at national and international level where you can enjoy music in pure harmony, In konkani the taste of music buffs is been spoiled by such trends and also the standards of our music wont raise until we come out of this shell!! We konkani music lovers also should raise our standards as listeners in this regard,I am happy that at least somebody has come forward with such an idea which should continue.. good luck
