Udupi, Mar 14: The special police teams of the Brahmavar circle have successfully arrested four members of "Team Garuda," an online Instagram account formed to allegedly to cause paln to cattle and execute them.
In recent times, many incidents of cattle theft were reported from Brahmavar and Kota police station limits. A team headed by Ananth Padhmanabh, circle inspector of Brahmavar along with Gurunath Hadimani, PSI Brahmavar and Madhu, PSI Kota was formed.
During their routine rounds on Monday, March 14, the special teams identified a scooter parked in a suspicious condition near the Barkur road. The team also found a car and four persons possessing long knives nearby. When inspected, they admitted that they had come to the locality for cattle theft.
The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Sharif of Kaup, Mujahid Rehman of Trasi, Abdul Majid of Kotatattu, Sayyed Akram of Bhatkal.
Mohammad Sharif is facing robbery and attempt to murder cases in Karkala town and rural limits, Kaup, Shirva and Kargal police station of Shivamogga district. Mujahid Rehman is facing robbery cases in Kundapur station, Bajpe and Mangalore railway police station. Sayyad Akram is facing a theft case in Bhatkal and a robbery case in Sagar police station of Shivamogga district.
One scooty, a car, four long knives, two ropes and a tarpal worth Rs 3,20,000 have been seized from the accused.
The four had created a Instagram account by the name "Team Garuda" and were communicating through it.
They are involved in the cattle theft case of Brahmavar police station, threat of life case of Kota police station and battery theft case of Byndoor police station.
The arrest was conducted under the guidance of Vishnuvardhan, Police Superindent Udupi Siddalingappa, ASP and the teams were lead under the guidance of Sudhakar Nayak, DSP Udupi Ananthpadhmanabh, Circle inspector Brahmavar. Gurunath B Hadimani, PSI Brahmavar Madhu, PSI Kota and police personnel of Brahmavar and Kota police station participated in bursting the case.
