Mangalore: Asst Director of Tourism Dept Caught Red-handed by Lokayukta Sleuth

Mangalore, Jan 20:
On the complaints received by Yathish Baikampady, CEO, Panambur beach tourism development project, the Lokayukta sleuths led by SP Jagamayyanawar DYSP Sadananda Varnekar along with inspectors Uday Naik, Dilip Kumar and Laxmikanth conducted a raid and arrested Adi Laxmamma, who is an assistant director of Tourism department.

She allegedly demanded bribe from Yathish Baikampady for receiving the tender from Jyothi advertisers. The tender is called for the development of Tannirbavi beach to bring the similar status of Panambur beach and its maintenance.

Yathish had applied for a tender to take up the development project of Tannir Bavi beach which is scheduled to be auctioned.

Other companies had also applied and Adi Laxmi was trying to bargain with all. Yathish, however contacted Lokayukta police seeking help from them. They made Yathish to speak to Adi Laxmamma on the phone and the conversation recorded clearly revealed that Laxmamma demanded Rs 10,000 from him to act in favour of him.

She directed him to give the money in Panambur beach at 1.00 pm today. Lokayukta police arrested her red handedly with the bribe money.

However speaking to Daijiworld, Adi Laxmamma defended herself and said she had come there as they had just offered her a lunch, and she had no intention of taking money.

I wish Mr.Kumar S and Mr.Cannuit had got their facts right before writing in an open forum like this. The Asst.Director of Tourism invovled in this case has been recently given charge of D.K. Transformation of Panambur beach from a garbage strewn beach, frequented by anti-social elements to a safe and secure beach where no drowning deaths have taken place during the last few years is no easy job. Today one can visit Panambur beach with your family even in the late evenings and spend a quiet time with nature. Has Mr.Kumar verified the accounts and the beach festival and come to the conclusion that he has arrived? Is he a face reader to suggest something like this? Mr.Kumar next time when you come across a situation where you have to pay a bribe, be whistle blower and then you will know it requires courage and conviction to do that.

Don’t pat the back of a wrong person? Some thing fishy here. First of all how Mr.Yatish is involved with Jyoti Advertisers? Is it his own Company? If yes being a CEO of Panambur Tourism development project, he must have pressurised her to favour his Advertising firm. When she did not agree & he must have trapped her. Why because, since last few years both are working with co-ordination for all the Beach festivals & Karavali Utsav project.
It is understood from the local fisherman that Mr.Yatish is minting money during organizing Beach Festivals & Karavali Utsav for the last few years. Lots of cash money (payments) is involved during the festivals. Making the locals to work hard by giving them late night parties & actual budgeted amount will be misused.

Please once again see his picture & you can read his face easily.

Anyway who ever guilty should be punished. Time & Tide waits for no one. Time comes for every one.

I had the same sentiments as Mr. L. N. Rego. I realized that we accept Men be corrupt, but women we still have reservations. However, Law should be the same and the punishment should fit the crime. We only need to take it to the next level and get the powerful ministers and businessmen to their Knees. It is due to their leadership that these type of activities occur.
Yatish has done a good job but it could be that he switched loyalties when the bargaining started and he perhaps was at the loosing end. They need to punish all the others who responded to the tenders and disqualify or fine them if they had discussed bribe with the lady and not informed the authorities right away. It always takes two hands to clap.
