Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 16:Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, March 16, reported 2 new coronavirus case while Udupi registered zero case.

The total number of positive cases in Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,35,457 out of which 21 are currently active.

As many as 3 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,849.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,00,980 as fine in 96,163 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

No positive case was reported on Wednesday. The total active Covid cases have risen to 3. Two patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday.

Udupi taluk reported 0 cases, Kundapura 0 and 0 cases in Karkala.

A total of 10,51,831 people have received first dose of vaccination and 987296 have received both doses and 47,989 people have received booster dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
