Bommai to announce date for conferring posthumous Karnataka Ratna Award to Puneeth soon

Bengaluru, Mar 17: The State Government will announce the date for conferring posthumous Karnataka Ratna Award to Kannada’s ‘Power Star’ Puneeth Rajkumar soon after consulting the actor’s family members, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said on Thursday.

A committee to organise the award conferring ceremony in a fitting manner will be constituted and the date will be decided after consulting the actor’s family members, he said on the 47th birthday of Puneeth Rajkumar.

Speaking to media persons near his residence, the Chief Minister said the actor was a great personality who achieved big things at a young and age and his life and service to the poor is a model and inspiration for all.

Bommai extended his best wishes for the release of the film, ‘James', in which the actor had acted.

Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan participated in a function to mark the 47th birthday of Puneeth Rajkumar in the Kempegowda playground and Sangolli Rayanna Park in Subramanya Nagar, in Malleswaram organised by BJP leader and film producer K Suresh Gowda.

The minister cut the cake and distributed sweets and breakfast to nearly 3,000 people, and warmly applauded the service and contribution to public life by the actor at a young age.

Former Chief Minister and State JD(S) President HD Kumaraswamy, has in a twitter message, described Puneeth Rajkumar  as Kannada’s valuable asset and a bundle of activity.

Large and Medium Industries Minister Murugesh R Niarani has also tweeted a message on Puneeth Rajkumar’s 47th birthday and described the actor as a beacon light of Kannada cinema.
