Dubai: Karnataka Sangha to Host Cookery Contest for Adults, Kids

Dubai, Jan 21: Karnataka Sangha Dubai as part of its ongoing silver jubilee celebrations will hold a cookery contest, open to only Kannadiga ladies and children here on Friday January 28 at Fortune Grand Hotel, Near Water Tank, Fish Round About, Deira, Dubai.

The event will also comprise a talent show for the ladies and children and a special attraction will be 'Bindaas Bollywood' from 2.30 pm onwards. Entry will be free for children while the fee for adult contestants is AED 20 per category.


Cookery contest:

Children upto age 15 – Any uncooked food item (salad/sandwich/fruit salad etc)

Adults: 15 years and above: any vegetarian dish
Adults: 15 Years and above: any non-vegetarian dish
Adults: 15 years and above: any sweet dish
 
General secretary K R Tantry has requested all Kannadigas in the UAE to participate in the competition. The total prize amount in cash exceeds AED 1,500. There will be lots of food samplings, games and entertainment for the audience, important tips and notes from expert chefs and housewives for kitchen and more. 

The objective of this cookery contest is to bring out the hidden talent of Kannadiga ladies here in UAE by bringing them together under one roof, to motivate children to participate actively and boost their cooking knowledge and to have an opportunity to organize the entire event only by ladies and children. Rules and Regulations:

Adults: above 15 years and for all categories

Participants should bring their own food items/ingredients including the vessels and decorations.
Only pre-cooked dishes are allowed and no gas/fire/microwave, heater are allowed inside the hall.
Participants should report to the venue by 2.30 pm
Time limit to present the dishes is 45 minutes for all the 3 categories.
3 prizes in each category.
Criteria for judgement are for presentation, aroma and taste.
Judges' decision is final and binding
 

Category: Children upto 15 Years: Same as above and additionally:
 
No knife/sharp objects to be handled by the children. Use of such objects will be at their own risk and will be parents' responsibility.
Only prepared food should be displayed and no preparation at the venue.
Minimal assistance can be provided by parents to their kids for cutting and chopping but no assistance will be encouraged at the venue.

Participants should bring their own makeup, dress etc.
Participants should report to the hall by 3 pm
Time limit allowed for each entry is 4 minutes.
There will be three prizes.
All Indian languages are allowed.
Dangerous acts, and props (like fire, sharp objects) will not be allowed.
Dress code for the Talent Show is as per the UAE norms.
No religious subjects to be depicted.
