Outstanding Sports Achievers of District Honoured at Glittering Ceremony

Mangalore, Jan 21: Mangalore Chemical and Fertilizer Ltd in association with Dakshina Kannada Pre-University College principals' association organized a felicitation ceremony to honour outstanding sports achievers of the district under 17 and 19 years at Loyola Hall of St Aloysius College on Friday January 21.

The students of Dakshina Kannada district who represented the state at national-level sports events were honoured by Deepak Anand, managing director of Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers Ltd. Deputy director of pre-university education A K Nagendrappa presided over the programme.

The organization honoured 72 sports achievers from eight pre-university colleges and 42 student achievers from 18 high schools all over the district. The purpose of the felicitation ceremony was to boost the confidence among students to partake in sports.

St Aloysius Pre-University College principal John Edward D’Silva and treasurer Jagajeevan Das Bhandary, K Prabhakar Rao, ED Works, MCF, St Aloysius College administrator Fr Elvis Lewis, Dakshina Kannada
Pre-University College Principals' Association president K S Ramesh and secretary K K Upadhyaya were present on the dais.

A cultural programme was staged on the occasion.

    Well done Deepak Anand. Well done MCF. Good to see prominent organisations of our district honouring well deserving sports achievers. They probably should have also included the 2 women who brought us glory at the Asian Games. Anyway, this is a great step by MCF which should be followed by other organisations. Congrats.
