Mangalore/Udupi, Jan 22: Opposing the decision taken by governor Bhardwaj, the members of district BJP unit staged a protest on Saturday January 22.

In Mangalore, the activists went on a procession from BJP office, PVS to Buntshostel, Jyothi, Hampankatta areas and returned back to the office premises.

Prominent BJP leaders like Nalin Kumar Katil, Monappa Bhandary and Shrikar Prabhu among others were present. Addressing the protestors Nalin Kumar said that Bhardwaj’s decision is politically motivated. He is influenced by the Congress leaders and being in this position he shouldn’t have taken such an important decision under the influence of others, he alleged.

Answering the queries of media persons regarding the disturbance caused by these kinds of protests, he said it is inevitable as we have to raise our voice against it when such a situation arrives.

The activists also forcibly closed down some of the shops in the Hampankatta and K S Rao Road areas and stopped the auto rickshaws here and there. As many as 100 members participated in the protest.

Speaking to the reporters Congress Spokesperson M G Hedge said that BJP does not know the difference between ruling party and opposition party. He also questioned why the CM and his associates are making an issue about Governor’s decision if they have not committed a mistake. Hegde informed that the KSRTC buses are being stopped due to the instruction given by minister Ashok. Because of the irresponsible behaviour of BJP government common people have become the scapegoats, he lamented.

Udupi: Bandh Total, Peaceful

In this temple town, the bandh has been peaceful so far. No untoward incidents have been reported from anywhere in the district. The people closed down their shops and other establishments voluntarily. None of the city, service, express, and government buses are plying. A handful of auto rickshaws have been moving about. Schools and colleges have declared holiday. The district BJP unit staged a protest at the service bus stand here.

District BJP president, Udayakumar Shetty, chairman of the Third Finance Commission Recommendations Implementation Committee, A G Kodgi, MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary, BJP Mahila Morcha district president, Reshma Uday Shetty, Syamala Kunder, Gitanjali Suvarna and other peoples’ representatives participated in the protest.

The pilgrims to the town are the worst hit, as none of the hotels are operating today. People are seen moving about in groups, searching for shelter and food.

Bantwal, Jan 22:
Normal life in Bantwal came to a halt with the bandh call on Saturday January 22. Commuters were affected as bus service was not available since morning.

Many bandh supporters burnt tyres and shouted slogans against governor Bharadwaj while BJP activists forcefully closed a few shops. Effigy of governor Bhardwaj was burnt.

The bandh was otherwise peaceful. Some students attended school even though transport was disrupted. Only a few number of shops were open in BC Road area and rural areas, but later they were also closed due to lack of number of customers.

People in Moodbidri, Polali, Mudipu, Konaje, Vitla and Manchi faced severe problems due to the stoppage of bus service. However, the weekly market in Mani was not affected by the bandh.

BJP holds symbolic protest

Bantwal BJP unit held a symbolic protest in BC Road to condemn the decision of governor. District BJP president Padmanabh Kottari and other local BJP leaders were present. The police provided tight security and no major incidents were reported.

Regarding volunteerly closing of the shops & other establishments to support the bundh - none would ever want to loose his daily bread by shutting down his business in order to support some insane bundhs. It is just to make sure that the business is left unharmed with no damage to the assets & people. However there's no guarantee of happening so if the riots turned violent. It is a defensive measure taken by the common businessman as there would be no compensation for the losses he sufferes because of the bundh. None would ever support a bundh called by any party, it is just the fear that paralyses.

Yeddi is fighting a war with one of the most experienced lawyer and ex.law minister of india. It is better for yeddi to face the court to show he is clean , than fighting against governer.Hansraj Bhardwaj holds the record of having the second longest tenure in Law Ministry since independence, after Ashoke Kumar Sen. He was the minister of state for nine years and a cabinet minister for law and justice for five years.
Bhardwaj was first elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1982. He served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Law and Justice from December 31, 1984 to November 1989 and was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1988. He was then Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Planning and Programme Implementation from June 21, 1991 to July 2, 1992 and Minister of State in the Ministry of Law, Justice and Company Affairs from July 3, 1992 to May 1996. He was again re-elected to the Rajya Sabha in April 1994 and April 2000, and from May 22, 2004 to May 28, 2009 he served as Union Cabinet Minister of Law and Justice.
Bhardwaj introduced the concept of rural courts (gram nyayalayas) during the UPA-I government. A media shy minister, handled the most sensitive and controversial cases in the Manmohan Singh cabinet between 2004 and 2009.

'Beliye Eddu Holava Meidante'! When the ruling govt itself takes to street, who will control them? Why BJP is angry first of all? Governor's action is perfect with the Constitution and the ruling of the Supreme Court bench of early 2000s of which even Justice Santhosh Hegde was the member. The Guv has not done anything illegal. When Gadkari himself has agreed that CM's action are illegal, why not BJP allow law to takes its own course? The question is not about the intentions of the Guv but whether his action is legal or illegal? Once it is agreed that it is legal, why BJP is on streets? If CM and Ashok are innocent and they are not guilty before the law, why and whom are they afraid of? The Guv has summoned the related files and examined them too which clearly indicates that he has followed the law word-to-word in relation to prosecution of CMs and minister. Secondly the Guv needs Cabinet permission or suggestion in case of former CM and former ministers and not the ruling ones. This is not the first time it has happened. It happened with Jayalalitha when Channa Reddy was the Guv of Tamil Nadu and most recently it happened with Lalu when Kidwai was the Guv of Bihar. As long as Guv has acted as per the Constitution and the Law of the country in discharging the duty, his affiliations, intentions become irrelevant. Does the BJP want a Guv who does not adhere to the Constitution and Law of the country just as they do?

When the CM is doing such evil things and the BJP is supporting for evil attitudes then BJP is not having any moral rights talk about other moral issues like Naxalites, Terror activities and all sort of evil things. When BJP is ruling Police department is useless and they must send some other states. The CM and all his team members are thiefs, bloody rapist, murderers, gundas, smugglers and dacoits. Let us too do the same thing and every one will get good support by BJP.

Congress has no able leaders. They are trying hard to divert the corruption issue this tactic will cost them only. Yeddi will come clean from our law because there are loop holes which we all well aware. These tactics will make BJP stronger. Look what happened in Bihar, they used Rahul card what’s the result. Congress should know that we are in 20th century not in 70s or 80s.

They hold protest on these things but why dont they hold protest on the Price hikes and why dont they hold protest on the rising prices of petrol . If you look into the price hikes of petrol then this is the third time hike of petrol in 3 months and this is unacceptable. And they have increased the price of petrol almost 8 rupees and now even if they reduce then it will be just a mere 3-4 at the max. what kind of govt. did we ? Even i regret of ing this kind of govt. If BJP is the real ruling party then prove the public that you are the best and you are with the public helping in solving these kinds of problems. We understand about your bandh call intension but we need to know what actions did this govt. take to reduce these hikes. We need results, And its asked by the Public with the Govt.
