Puttur: Voluntary confession of accused – Cops recover laptop stolen in 2020

Puttur, Mar 20: A youth voluntarily confessed to a crime committed two years ago and the police recovered a laptop that was stolen from a government higher primary school Kabaka on 12, February, 2020. The accused who admitted to this crime is already lodged in Belagavi prison for some other offence.

Sulochana K, headmistress of Kabaka government higher primary school had lodged a complaint with Puttur city police station about thieves entering the school on the night of February 12, 2020 and stealing the laptop that was kept in the office of the school after breaking open the lock. The value of the stolen laptop was estimated at Rs 24, 990.

On April 12, 2020, the Konaje police had arrested Abdul Fayan (22), a resident of Badriyanagar of Manjanadi village for crime under IPC 457 and 380 and he was lodged in Belagavi prison.

Accused Fayan, who is in judicial custody in Belagavi prison, in a voluntaryconfession statement told the police that he and his friend Suhaib had stolen the laptop from the office of the Kabaka government higher primary school in February 2020.

On March 18, this year, accused Fayan was taken into custody by the Konaje police and on inquiry he was taken to the shop where he had sold the laptop in Mangaluru city. Police confiscated the laptop from the said shop.
