Mangaluru, Mar 21: The Deshapremi Sanghatanegala Okkuta took out a procession from Sri Venkataramana temple, Car Street to RTI activist Late Vinayak Baliga's residence at Kalakunj on Monday, March 21 to mark his sixth death anniversary.

Vinayak Baliga was brutally murdered near his residence at Kala Kunj in the early hours of March 21, 2016. The case is yet to be solved and the culprits behind the murder are yet to be punished.

The procession began with a prayer by Vinayak Baliga’s sisters to deity Lord Sri Venkatramana to give justice to their brother.

Activist and president of the Federation of Indian Rationalists' Associations, Prof Narendra Nayak said, ”It has been six years since the murder of RTI activist Vinayak Baliga who raised voice against the irregularities in the temple. He was brutally murdered near his residence in Kalakunj. Forget about Kashmir files, the 'Baliga files' existed with several GBs of evidence pertaining to the irregularities of the temple. After a year of Baliga’s murder, his parents passed away which was no less than a murder since their death occured due to suffering after their son’s death. Vinayak Baliga was relentlessly working for the BJP during the time of election. So far, none of them have shown interest in providing justice to Baliga’s family. Is Chief minister Bommaih daring enough to give Baliga’s murder case to SIT," challenged Prof Nayak.

Karnataka Pradesh Mahila Congress president Pushpa Amarnath, District Mahila Congress president Shalet Pinto, Congress leaders Prakash Salian, Appi, Mohammed Kunjathbail, Veena P Bhat, Surrayya Anjum, activist Gerald Towers and others were present.

Earlier in the day, veteran CPM leader and polit bureau member Brinda Karat visited slain RTI activist Vinayak Baliga's home and paid tributes.

Wow, what a way to belittle massacre, rape and acts bordering with genocide of lakhs of Kashmiri Pandits to demand justice for one man. Rationality for a minute flew out of the window it looks like with Prof. Nayak. If evidence are there, go to court - you had gone there in the past and were successful. No, you did not need Brinda Karat for those cases. Why do you have to make a hooplaah like this one and belittle a genocide? Are public going to give you justice? Let us say a communist gets elected from that constituency, do you think he will give justice to Baliga family? When did communist give justice to anyone other than themselves?

@K.S. Mayya, the case of "Kashmir Files" should be investigated. How Jug Mohan then BJP/RSS man Governor of Kashmir responsible for fleeing of Kashmiri Pandits (it just shows that Only pandits were killed other lower caste committed suicide?), Kashmiri Pundits are meat eating Brahmins. Thing is there were many other caste Hindus and Sikhs who were forced to flee Kashmir then. Pundits are te upper caste and BJP will support only their cause.

At the time of the murder and two years after, it was a Congress Govt in Karnataka with Mr SIddaramaiah as the CM. The local MLA was also from Congress. Nice of Congress representatives to participate in the procession today. Hope they apologised for their administration failed to bring justice.

In between Congress Govt also come and gone. In fact the Murder happened under congress govt. Where where these pudaaris then ? OK , lets assume BJP may be shielding the culprits. Congress had 3 MLA's from north to south in Mlore that time. What where they doing ? Where they also hand in glove ?
