AIMIT Entrepreneur Cell Launched in Presence of KEL Team

Mangalore, Jan 23: A twenty-five member team from Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd (KEL) led by Ivan Fernandes, CEO, Ducont, Dubai, visited AIMIT, St Aloysius College, at its Beeri campus for management and IT for the inaugural of the entrepreneur cell here on Friday January 21.

Ivan Fernandes, Shobha Mendonca, president, KEL, Dubai and Charles Gomes, president, KEL, Bangalore were on dais for the inaugural, along with Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, Fr Ozwald Mascarenhas, chairman, MBA dept and Dr Sridhar, dean, MBA dept. Over 200 MBA and IT students of AIMIT were present and there was a representation by St Agnes College, Mangalore.

The inaugural was marked by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Fr Denzil Lobo welcomed the gathering. In his inspirational message, he told the young management and IT students that they need to have intense desire to be entrepreneurs, having faith in themselves, others and God to make their dreams a reality. He also invited the distinguished members of KEL to be fully associated with the AIMIT business school in making it a premier B-School, one among the top ten within the next 5-7 years. He also thanked them for taking utmost interest in the development of the business school.

Ivan Fernandes, CEO, Ducont, an alumnus of St Aloysius College spoke of his journey in becoming an entrepreneur. He started his presentation with what it means to be an entrepreneur. In his very powerful and inspiring power point presentation, which was made alive with some videos on successful entrepreneurs and their message to the young students, he spoke about his own journey, starting with humble beginning, how he was able to rise above others and become a successful entrepreneur.

He spoke of the dream one needs to have in life, and the courage and guts needed to make that dream become a reality. He told them to get hold of the opportunities that come across their lives, and build a great team. He also mentioned that one needs to exit at the right moment to start some other venture, and that the life of an entrepreneur is always full of challenges and courageous jumps one makes to stay abreast of what is happening in the world and become successful.

He then spoke of KEL and how all the entrepreneurs from Dubai and Bangalore would like to support and mentor anyone who would like to launch new ventures. He said the objectives of KEL Global is wealth creation, mentoring, welfare and personal growth, and that they would always be ready to mentor the young, daring management and IT graduates.

He was followed by Claudius Pereira, a successful entrepreneur from Bangalore and a motivational speaker. “Do you have it in you? Ideas for today and tomorrow?” was the theme of his vibrant presentation. He said, “Great life starts with a great dream” and that four D’s are important to make it successful - Determination, Dedication, Desire, Discipline - and one A: the right Attitude. He said that PMAs - Positive Mental Attitudes - are very important to be successful along with knowledge and skills. He opined that excellent communication skills are very important for a leader.

Mentioning a lot of successful people who came up in life by sheer hard work and commitment he said great leadership, sustaining superior performance, intense loyalty to people, a winning team, integrity and communication are the ingredients to make a successful entrepreneur.

Two of the entrepreneurs from AIMIT, who have initiated new ventures spoke of their success stories. Praveen Prabhu from the second batch of MBA from AIMIT (formerly known as AIBA) spoke on behalf of Foradian Technologies Ltd, a software company started by a team of four classmates. He was followed by Melroy D’Souza of MaRITZ Pharma, a company started just a few months back, just after he and his friends completed their MBA at AIMIT.

Ajith and Sreekanth, two of the present final year MBA students of AIMIT did a presentation on what they wanted to do after their management studies. The programme ended with a summing up by Fr Ozzie Mascarenhas, chairman, AIMIT Business School and the vote of thanks proposed by Charles Gomes, president, KEL, Bangalore.
