Gadkari announces closure of NH toll gates within 60 km range

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (DRD)

New Delhi, Mar 22: Even as frequent protests are happening to scrap the Surathkal toll gate, union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari's tweet on Tuesday, March 22 may come as a relief.

Gadkari has stated on Twitter that all the toll collecting points which are within 60 km of each other on the national highways will be closed in the next three months.

Meanwhile, MP Pratap Simha too has retweeted acknowledging the same.

While it is a good decision Vehicles. should not waste time @ tolls 60 km maybe less ... Why so many operators is because of piecemeal. Contractors... Not given to big companies like. L & T For political reasons contractors benefits .. Toll road meant for connecting major cities .....FOr other small towns villages there should be separate roads Full lifetime taxes paid by vehicle owners Should not be burdened by tolls short distances

Okay close the toll gate after 3 months, but allow free flow of traffic without payment from today itself. What is the agenda of Mr. Gadkari to delay for 3 months...Rs 45/- is getting swiped from fastag everytime I travel on this useless surathkal toll gate as I have a KA 20 registered car.

The current government at the center is only looting from the citizens and selling all government owned establishments. When in future the BJP can say that they erected toll gates. The local MP should have closed the Surathkal toll gate more than three months back.

Congratulations to Asif Apadbhandawa. Look at the power of common man! Gadkari had to bow! Please discount Nalin. He is inefficient. He promised closure 3 years back and it was all bandal! Hats off to Asif.... he has put a break on nationwide illegitimate toll loot! 60 Km is fair kind of toll...that too with bi-lanes and rest areas, street lights and so on! Collection of galore was for religion Khathre Me purpose I guess! Salam to Asif for doing what MP/ MLA, ministers, CM/PM and so on could not do!!!

Target for what. Kindly suggest a worthy candidate. Voting someone after a few years realising that the government is a slack on certain things, then feeling next election we have to select someone better. This is a vicious cycle with no end. All political parties are the same i feel.

Gadkari clearly mentioned and agreed that installing toll gates within 60 KMS distance is illegally - then what basis Mangalore police commissioner arrested Mr.Asif from Afathbhandava ? without knowing what is legal and what is illegal? will Mangalore police arrest now union minister for allowing illegal toll gate in Mangalore police commisionarate ?

You are right. But our commissioner will discuss this issue with law experts then justify the arrest he made. My question is why three month time required? Is it "nuclear reactor shutdown process" ? . This is just to fool the on going morcha to dilute it. Union minister should know, this time twin district all people joint together.

It actually makes sense. What is the point of "good" roads which compromises you at every 20 Kms with toll and eats the time you benefited by driving at 100 kmph. It will help local people as well as those traveling below 60 Km will not pay toll. I want to see this implemented tomorrow. I hope the proposal is thought through, because those with domicile within striking distance of toll (59 Kms and below) will bleed through the nose if implemented literally.

We all should thank asif for the protest. But people from AAP stating that as they entered the protest we won. This is what we call as mileage getting. Samething was done by kejriwal in Delhi with the help of a real hero of India anna hazare. Samething is happening here... but it's long way to go AAP... ou might come to power in karnataka but not earlier than another 15 years...
