Dubai: USWAS Presents 'Shirva Porob - 2011' on Feb 11

Dubai, Jan 23: USWAS, an association of Shirva parishioners residing in the UAE under the leadership of Canute D’Souza, is setting the stage for its Shirva Porob-2011 which will be held at Al Masah Ball Room, Sheraton Deira, here on Friday February 11.

Amidst overwhelming response from the parishioners as well as members of the Konkani community in Dubai, USWAS has planned a fun-filled day of variety entertainment for those who wish to be a part of Porob -2011

The event will be compered by Uttam Menezes, a well known host and compere in the UAE known for his powerful and multi-lingual interaction skills.

The event will have lots of fun games, spot prizes and dances from local talents’.  The main attraction of Porob-2011 will be a short comedy play ‘Valchibaajecho Maatov’ from Shirva’s well-known comedians 'Boscambegar’. They are all set to put on hard efforts to tickle the audience with their comedy skills.

Multi-talented artist Merwyn Aranha from Shirva who is specialized in doing female roles in many of the drama troupes will be flown from Shirva especially for the occasion. He will be acting in the comedy drama and have a special item number performance of changing seven sarees during a dance sequence.

The ‘Rising Star of Shirva’ – Prashanth Sequeira will be performing on his last year released hit album ‘Yo Moga”. 
 
Well- known band, ‘Sweet Melodies’ of Dubai under the leadership of Arun Carlo along with other musicians will provide live musical entertainment for Shirva Porob-2011.  Arun Carlo has rendered music for Konkani CDs like Zala Love, Mogachin Laran and so on and is well- known for his rich talent of music in Dubai and Mangalore.
 
Canute Mathias, the ‘Voice of Shirva’ will perform some sensational hit numbers during Porob 2011 along with Prashanth, ‘Male Voice of Shirva’ finalist Sandeep Saldanha, Loyal Pinto, Sheela Carlo and Joy Almeida. Apart from Konkani songs they will also perform some of the hit Kannada and Eastern (hindi) songs to add variety to the musical entertainment.

A lavish buffet dinner will be served on the day. Entertainment with music, dance and spot games will fill the day with enjoyment.

Shirva Porob 2011

‘Shirva Porob-2011’ is an annual event of the association, and the proceeds of the event will be used for the project of providing assistance in upgrading post graduation facilities  of  St Mary’s College, Shirva. On the family front, Shirva Fest is the only feast where relatives and friends come together.

USWAS, which came into existence at the fag end of December 2002, and has over 200 members at present, is driven with the motto, ‘Lend a hand not for self, but for each other’. It has been providing financial assistance to the needy for various purposes like education of financially backward children, medical aid, house construction, marriages of poor couples and such other purposes of the community of Shirva and surrounding efficiently through the generous help from its sponsors and well-wishers.
