Mangaluru, Mar 24: Youth Congress leader Mithun Rai vehemently condemned the banners displaying "No permission for business to Muslim traders during temple fesivals" and threatened to gerao the district administration office if they do not take action.
Mithun said, “Mulky Bappanadu temple is known for its communal harmony. During the annual temple fair, nearly 1.5 lac jasmine units are offered to Devi. This jasmine is grown by the Christians of Shankarapura, sold by Musims and offered to goddess by Hindus."
“The main photograph on the chariot of Bappanadu is that of Bappa Byari. This holy place is a model to the whole country. Chaos have been created by displaying the controversial banner. The administrative committee says that they have not put up the said banner. People of the district are confused because of the banner. Why has the district administration still not removed the unauthorized banner? Why is it hesitating? The delay in removal of the banner by the district administration has been adding to the chaos. This clearly shows that the district administration is instigating such acts. Will the Goddess approve the work of such antisocial elements," questioned Mithun.
“If the district administration does not take action on the culprits, we will gherao the department.”
