Mangaluru: DC says guidelines soon for temple donation boxes counting

Mangaluru, Mar 25: The district administration is planning to draw up guidelines for the counting of donations received through boxes in temples.

Deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Dr Rajendra K V, said that so far there was no specific methodology or guideline for counting of the donations received. 

He said that the religious council meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday next, and that efforts would be made to take a decision on the issue of drawing up guidelines for counting.

    @ Mohan Prabhu . Prabhu i.e. God, does not require money He is omnipotent and omnipresent. One can pray from home without visiting a religious place He does not require brokers and middlemen. There should not be any tax deduction for donations by faithful as many times the money collected is misused- remember the Baliga murder case,Dera Sacha Sauda, Asaram ( Aisharaam) Bapu, Premanand (the name speaks for itself)This applies to all religions. Franco episode in one , Mukkacherry murder case in another. There are many such cases all over India and World. Donations should be accepted by digital payments and cheques/demand drafts only.

    Temple funds should be strictly utilized for development of Hindus community and their religious institutions. . This is donated by an Hindu devotee for his God/Godess..

    government/public should stay out of temples and the temple management should have total discretion in spend, waste, pocket, divert, siphon off / swallow the funds received from devotees and donors...

    Apart from counting in donation boxes, selling of land and property of all religious places, and rent collected from such places should be brought under scrutiny , the amounts would be thousands of times of collection boxes.

    Cynthia and Jossey: Are these not matters pertaining to religious affairs? Can the government interfere with them? If so, other religions could also be subject, and there is no fundamental right to religion other than professing, practising and promoting religion. I always felt uneasy about government interference in temple affairs, as if they are temporal matters. Of course, temple revenues can be taxable, in which case church donations and mosque donations will also be. In return to taxing, the government should provide tax deduction for the donatons made by the faithful. I wonder why someone in the community has not filed a PIL petition before the High Court to pronounce on the constitutionality of government involvement in religious affairs.

    My dear Prabhu....you are mistaken by my comment...I replied to the comment of Mr. Monty. I said i am agreeing with him...For what i agreed, is written in his comment dear. You please go through that comment of Shri Monty. You and we, both said the same thing....ALL RELIGIONS and not PARTICULAR COMMUNITY. Please get clarified...So also the bhagyas...Either they should be for all or not required to anyone...🙏🙏
