SAC Team Bags Benjamin D’Souza Memorial Football Trophy

Mangalore, Jan 26:  The valedictory function and the final match of the Benjamin D’Souza Memorial Inter Collegiate Football Tournament organized by Dakshina Kannada Football Association  (DKFA), were held on the Nehru Maidan football ground on Tuesday December 25. St Aloysius College (SAC) beat the PA College while Tippu Sultan College beat St Philomena College, Puttur, and reached the finals.
 
The SAC team won the final with a 4-3 penalty shootout against the team from Tippu Sultan College.
 

In the first half, though Shafiq of Tippu Sultan College hit a goal in the 7th minute, Khejo of SAC team hit a goal and equaled the score.
 
SAC scored 4 points and took home the championship while the Tippu Sultan College team which scored 3 points was the runners-up.
 
Eagle  Electricals  proprietor  K  Laxman  Shetty,  B  A  Group  managing director  B  Abdul  Salam,  Rosario  high  school  head  teacher  Aloysius D’Souza,  son  of  late  Benjamin  D’Souza,  and  the  assistant  physical director  of  Mangalore  University  Santhosh  D’Souza,  were  the  chief guests and distributed the prizes.
 
D M Aslam presided over the programme. Secretary Mohammed Hussain welcomed the gathering. Co-secretary  Umesh  Uchila delivered the vote of thanks. Vijay Suvarna conpered the programme and Anil P V was present.
