Bengaluru, Mar 28: It is gathered that the leadership of the Congress has conveyed to the party leaders and activists to maintain a discreet distance from the statement made by Siddaramaiah about the Swamijis wearing clothes on their heads.
There is information that this has made Siddaramaiah disturbed. When speaking about the Hijabs, Siddaramaiah had made a comparison to the clothes worn by the Swamijis on their heads to justify the Hijabs. But he received a backlash from various quarters including the Swamijis. BJP leaders made good use of this opportunity to criticize Siddaramaiah.
When the media had sought reaction to this statement from Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president D K Shivakumar, he had asked the scribes to pose this question to Siddaramaiah himself. Upset Siddaramaiah is said to have revealed about the fact that he feels let down, to his close ones.
As soon as Siddaramaiah made the above statement, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had taken steps to advise its spokespersons to stay away from panel discussions in the news channels on this issue. Internally it was conveyed that no one should support the statement of the former chief minister, party sources said. Even the clarifications given by former KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao and deputy leader of the opposition, U T Khader, were in the form of explanation rather than justification.
