Vijayapura: Family decides to convert for treating child, hospital helps after MLA intervenes

Daijiworld Media Network - Vijayapura (SP)

Vijayapura, Mar 28: A poor Hindu family decided to get converted into Christianity in order to pool money needed to provide treatment to their child who is suffering from Thalassemia, a rare disorder. Now, the BLDE Hospital has extended its helping hand to this family.

Eranna (34) from Basava Bagewadi works in a Dhaba. Because of utter poverty, the family was in a fix as they did not have any avenues to pool so much money. Eranna, who visited different states for the treatment, has spent three lac rupees so far.

Reports said that a hospital in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, came forward to help the family on certain conditions which included offering prayers in the church for a period of two months. It is said that the family had taken a decision to undergo religious conversion for the treatment of the child.

Eranba said he couldn't get financial support to treat his child as his monthly salary is just Rs 12,000. He said half of his salary goes towards the treatment of his son. He revealed that during his visit to a hospital in Vellore, the hospital promised to arrange for treatment of his son including Rs 10 lac needed for the bone marrow transplant. The hospital asked him to offer prayers in the church on a daily basis. "They also spoke about religious conversion. On the basis of their promise, I decided to get converted. I have three children including two daughters," he said.

In the meantime, Congress legislator M B Patil, who is the president of BLDE Association, who learnt about the crisis the family was facing, instructed the officials at the said hospital to extend free treatment to the boy. Based on this assurance, the family has changed its decision of embracing Christianity, it is learnt.

Only god know the truth. Now a days hate makes all these. Stories against conversion and fake stories just to spoil the name of Christian s. My prayers for the family and the child for recovery soon. Poverty and sickness both together made it hard for this family. Hope people start helping such needy in need without bias.

What financial benefit will the hospital get by converting a patient's family? Were all the hospital employees provided jobs on condition of conversion? Let there be a fair investigation and let truth prevail.

Pure lies. No hospital will ask anyone to convert to christianity to get treatment. There are thousands of christian hospitals in India. I have not heard even one such incident in the past. If they do so, the hospital is liable to be prosecuted. Someone is using them for ulterior motives.

Nothing but usual drama to attract attention at the cost of conversion........going with these kind of narratives by this time since last two thousand years this country should have become Christian majority. These kind of people all take the benefits offered and then start coughing out all dirt at the behest some sympathiser who lands from no where.....!!!!

How much money this family got for agreeing to be a part of this story? After getting the free treatment. Everyone who is not a fool ,knows these tactics by politicians are common nowadays. Only this time the party is different. My neighbors family has got treatment on concession rates many times in christian hospital, nobody asked them to convert. There are lacs of people getting treated. May be sometimes the staff might say 'devarathra prarthane maadi, guna aaguthhe ' (pray to god , you will be okay) So pray to your own God. Politicians and some organisation leaders are looking for blood in our country and unfortunately for many viewers this is a nice song...

The whole story seems to be one side of the truth. No one converts because you give money for treatment. This is just to malign the Christian community. Jesus healed all . The Christian community follows the teachings of Christ and helps out of compassion. The Bible clearly states until the Lord draws you no one can have a change of heart.I pray the real truth is exposed and the wickedness to malign Christians is brought to light. Our source is Jesus alone and by his stripes we are healed.

Don't think Christians are so shallow to bargain for a conversion in this way. They must have genuinely believed in God's healing power and asked them to pray along with the treatment. That cannot be considered as conversion. (It's not selfishness or politics either) but imagine the desperate poor parents getting free bone marrow transplant for their child and free faith healing for themselves. That's heaven on earth for any desperate & hopeless person.

Religion is a choice . No matter who you are and where you are , you have the right to choose a religion and practice it . This is fundamental right . Nobody has any right to interfere in your choice of following , eating , wearing and choosing a life partener.

The whole story seems to have many holes in the narrative. If people converted to Christianity for financial reasons then the Christian community would not have stayed at 2% in India for so many decades.

So, the MLA spoke to the hospital, and the hospital suddenly decided to offer free treatment which may cost perhaps 20 lakhs? This MLA needs to be approached by all patients throught India to get free treatment at any hospital. How can anyone believe this MLA? It looks like 99% of the story is missing from the article. Regardless, the MLA received plenty of FREE publicity.

Good MB Patil from Congress came to help the Hindu family from getting converted . If BJP MLA gets involved then it would have got communal as fabricated stories to harass minority . Also happy to see, finally Congress realising if they have to survive they have to help humanity without seeing their religion and not just by their votebank.

In the light of conversion issues, this seems unlikely, if probable. Is this true and verified ? Let's hope that people don't take law into their hands. It has happened too many times in the past.
