Bengaluru, Mar 31: The special court for people's representatives has passed an order to hold a probe against rural development and panchayat raj minister K S Eshwarappa. It has asked the police personnel of Doddapete station in Shivamogga to hold the probe and file a report.
Eshwarappa has been accused of issuing provocative statement when commenting about the murder of Harsha, a Bajrang Dal worker. A private complaint had been lodged against the minister in the court. The petitioner had accused Eshwarappa and Shivamogga city corporator Channabasappa, of issuing instigating statement after the said murder. They were charged with uttering threats like not sparing Muslim goondas and crushing them. It was said that disturbances happened in Shivamogga because of this statement and therefore asked the court to direct Shivamogga police to register a first information report against the concerned.
It is said that even though a complaint was made to Doddapete police station in Shivamogga asking them to register case against Eshwarappa and Channabasappa, the policemen had not done the needful. Riaz Ahmed from Shivamogga had filed the said complaint in the court. The petitioner sought to sue these two persons under sections 124 (A). 153 (A), 153 (B), 295 (A), 295 (B), 505 (2) and 504 RW of Indian Penal Code. Judge of the special court for people's representatives, Preeth, has now passed an order, asking the Doddapete, Shivamogga police to probe the allegations and file a report.
