Belthangady: Fr L M Pinto Health Centre Gets New Block

Belthangady, Jan 29: The newly constructed Dr Peter Pinto Block at Fr L M Pinto Health Centre in Badyar was inaugurated on Friday January 28 by Sr Mariette, provincial superior, Bethany Congregation.  Fr Onil D’Souza, director, CODP, unveiled the plaque and Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, blessed the new block.
 
The Bishop, in his presidential address, lauded the doctors and medical staff for their dedicated and selfless service towards their suffering brethren. He also congratulated the Bethany Sisters saying that this small 12-bed health centre started by Fr Pinto and his brother Dr Peter Paul, has now mushroomed into a full-fledged hospital that can cater to the health needs of many more people in and around this remote village area.






Rev Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop of Belthangady, Rev James D’Souza, vicar forane of Belthangady deanery, Suresh Poojary, president, Padangady Grama Panchayat, Sr Hope, administrator, LMPHC, Sr Assumpta, general co-ordinator for Socio-Medical Apostolate, and Sr Jyotsna, Superior Bethany Convent, Badyar, were present on the dais.
 
Dr Denzil Noronha, Sr Hope, and Jacob D’Souza were honoured for their long-standing service at the health centre.  Maxim Correa, Lawrence, and Richard were also honoured for the success of the construction work.  Earlier, Sr Hope welcomed the gathering, Sr Jyotsna presented a detailed report of the Health Centre, and Sr Flossy proposed the vote of thanks.
