Sode Mutt Witnesses ‘Akki Muhurat’ by Swami Vishwavallabateerta

Udupi, Jan 29: The ‘Akki Muhurat’ was held at Sode Mutt on Friday January 28 as part of the rites to be followed ahead Swami Vishwavallabateerta of Sode Mutt taking over the Paryaya Peeta.

Swami Vishwavallabateerta will assume charge of the Paryaya Peeta on January 18, 2012, and ‘Bale Muhurat’ has been held. Akki Muhurat was held on Friday morning with much reverence.

A ‘mura’ of rice was placed in a golden palanquin along with idols of the temple deity and taken in procession to Sode Mutt. Swami Vishwavallabateerta offered ‘puja’ to the rice and performed the muhurat.

Swami Laxmivarateerta of Shiroor Mutt, senior Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejavar Mutt, junior Swami Vishvaprasanna, Swami Vidhyasagarateerta of Krishnapur Mutt, Swami Vidhyadishateerta of Palimar Mutt, and Swami Vidhyavallaba of Kaniyoor Mutt were offered a grand welcome at the Rath Beedhi and were taken to Sode Mutt.

‘Padapuja’ and ‘Mangalarati’ was offered to the Swamijis and they were presented fruit offerings. City jeweler Ravishankar Shet sponsored the Akki Muhurat.

The Vedic celebrations related to Akki Muhurat were performed by Vedavyas Bhat and Diwan Padigar Srinivas Tantri.

Haridas Upadhyaya, Kolambe Sitaram Acharya, Nippani Gururaj Acharya, Bannanje Gopalakrishna Upadhyaya, Tumkur Ramesh Achar, Sagri Gopalakrishna Samaga, Ratna Kumar, Dr Ashok Kumar, Dr B S Revankar, Dr Sripati Bhat, Hospet Rajeshwar Singh, Bangalroe Maheshwar Singh, Bellary Jnaneshwar Singh, Kundapura Harischandra Burude, town councilor Kiran Kumar, deputy councilor Bharati Chandrasekhar, and council member Shyamprasad Kudva were present on the occasion.
