Udupi, Apr 1: Union minister and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has informed that approval is granted by union minister for highways and transport Nitin Gadkari to convert the two-lane road into four-lane between Mala Gate to Karkala on NH 169, which falls under Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency.
The approval was granted as Shobha Karandlaje, union minister for agriculture and farmers’ welfare, met Gadkari and submitted an appeal for the same. National highway ministry have approval to release Rs 177.84 crore to convert 15.27 km stretch of the road into four lane from the present two lane.
Karandlaje thanked union minister Gadkari for giving the approval for the project which was very essential for people living in Shringeri, Chikkamagaluru and Karkala as the present two lane road commuting is very tiresome.
Tender process will start soon and the work will begin once the tender process is over as per the information provided by union minister Karandlaje.
