Mangaluru, Apr 1: A day-long virtual international conference on ‘Digital Transformation of Business’ was organized by Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) in association with Limkokwing University, Malaysia on Friday, March 25 at the institute Campus at Bondel.
In his inaugural address, chief guest Dr Randhir Pushpa, co-founder and director of ACIES Innovations, said that the Covid pandemic has democratized digital transformation. “If we did not have digitalization, the impact of Covid would have been much higher. We should thank Covid because it disrupted the concept of future of work,” he said.
He urged the students to read more on the future of work, hybrid working, and metaverses as organizations are transforming themselves into smart organizations, where the work of middle management may be done by artificial intelligence driven machines.
The guest of honour, professor Dato’ Dr Mohd Razali Bin Agus, vice-chancellor of Limkokwing University, Malaysia, shared his views on digital transformation and said that digital technology had strengthened all the work. To stay ahead, today’s leaders need a thorough understanding of the rapid—and sometimes radical—developments that are shaping this transformation. Machine Learning, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, the Internet of Things, and Cybersecurity are the areas where one should acquire the strategies to respond to the latest developments, he said.
The institute Correspondent Jeevan Das Narayan, former managing director, State Bank of Travancore, said people should understand the ethical dimensions of digital transformation and issues like digital Utopia, dystopias need to be academically discussed.
Kudpi Jagdeesh Shenoy, president of WNES presided over the function. A CD of the conference papers was released by Manel Annappa Nayak, vice president of WNES. Institute Director Dr Molly S Chaudhuri welcomed the gathering. Reema Frank, assistant professor, delivered the vote of thanks.
The first plenary talk was delivered by Dr Almahdy Alhaj Saleh, senior faculty of creative and computing technology, Limkokwing University, Malaysia. He spoke on how information technology advanced business and research. This was followed by Panel Discussion and a paper presentation session, where 56 research papers were presented by 175 delegates.
Dr Madanmohan Rao, research director at YourStory Media was the moderator for the panel discussion on knowledge, data and information in context of business, knowledge management and consultancy perspectives. He interacted with Dr Omar Amer Abouabdalla, associate professor, dean and faculty of Information & Communication Technology, Limkokwing University, Ritu Grover, director KM at Khaitan and Co, and Nirmala Palaniappan, vice president, Knowledge Transformation Services at Genpact.
The paper presentation session was chaired by Dr Vidyavathi, Dr Shilpashree, Dr Omar Amer Abouabdalla and Reema Frank.
