Jet Airways to Connect Sharjah - Mangalore Soon

Jet Airways to Connect Sharjah - Mangalore Soon

Mumbai, Jan 30 (PTI) : Bolstered by high passenger volumes on its Gulf network, private carrier Jet Airways is looking at enhancing connectivity to the lucrative region from the coming summer, an airline source said.

"Encouraged by the increasing traffic on the Gulf routes, we are mulling to launch some new sectors in ournetwork," a Jet Airways source told PTI on condition ofanonymity.

The airline plans to add one flight on Mumbai-Dubai route, he said, adding services to Sharjah from Mangalore and Thiruvananthapuram are also being worked out. "We plan to introduce these services from the coming summer season."

Jet Airways currently operates two daily flights from  Mumbai and one each from Delhi and Hyderabad to Dubai.

The proposed flights are expected be serviced by theBoeing 737-800 aircraft, he added.

Jet Airways, which currently has a fleet of 93aircraft, plans to add 49 more planes in the next five yearsto expand its domestic and international network.

Coming out of the global meltdown, when passenger airtraffic fell significantly and airlines reduced capacity, the domestic air traffic clocked a 16 per cent growth in 2010.

According to industry estimates, the passenger trafficis expected to touch 60-million mark this year as against 45million in 2009.

Recently, Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal said he was expecting a 15 per cent rise in the domestic and another 15-20 per cent in the international passenger traffic.

Lucky those who are in UAE to get Jet Airways direct flight from IXE. We in Saudi Arabia's eastern belt are looking for a similar service between Mangalore and Dammam. I would like to bring to many of our DW readers here with regard to AI Express's pricing, their tricky tactics. Universally, with any airlines copmpany, earlier you book, pay and reserve your seat, cheaper is the fare. Whereas, AI Express is just the opposite. On many occations I experienced the fare when you book months in advance is high but while you reach to the closer of that particular date, you could see the fare has fallen by 8% to 12%. Is this justifiable? Is it not a cheat? Who should be benefited, the early bird or last minute unplanned entries? It is really disgusting.

As regards AIE, I have an unforgettable experience last year. The pilot announcing mid air that he got a call from "the company" and therefore, he is taking the flight to Abu dhabi instead of Muscat unmindful of the fact that people haqve booked ticket paying extra fair for the direct flight and the onward journey problem and the scheduled itinerary of the passengers.

I hate this AIE forever only because there is no discipline.

It’s a right timed initiative & movement by Jet Airways, as we were waiting for this good news from long time from any private Airlines, as AIE will never ever here passengers grievance. Initially we were relived from all the tension & tiredness, as we used to take via Flights from Bombay or Bangalore or from elsewhere. Thanks to AIE for the direct nonstop service you had started to Mangalore. But now we really fed up with your service, especially in flight service such as worst class of food , where they serve the same type of food almost for years now for their valued passengers, where they pay maximum high fare comparing to other airlines. Will any airline will provide this type of food such as ….. Vada, Upma & Dal together in one container …? That too anybody can eat this food at midnight 3 pm in the Night…? We understand it is a Budget airline, but the charge you take & the Food you provide for your valued customers /passengers ….. I think no one ever tasted this food from any Air India express crew members or from any AIE management staff so far. But we passengers have no other choice, as we Mangalore & its surrounding places passengers have no other choice then choosing direct AIE flight from any Gulf Country. Thank you very much for Jet Airways management & planning committee’s initiative you have taken and kindly materialize on this plan earliest.

Let us hope it will improve with the entry of Pvt aitlines in the sector like Jet. Also we can expect some price advantage due to the choice coming up. I am sure most of those criticising AIE for their bad service, end of the day going to compare two prices which is economical to the pocket and buy tkt accordingly once the Jet enters the field. Any way it is the passengers who are going to be benefited with the entry of Pvt airline to this sector. So let us welcome it and hope to get it at the earliest.

Its really a great news to we mangaloreans at UAE. The monoploy of AI Express has been sucking blood of mangalore bound passengers. Food it serves is of inferior quality. The attitude of AIE staff are pathetic. I feel with the healthy competition, passengers shall benefit and I look forward to travel by Jet Airways in my next vacation.
