Udupi: Electricity pole on middle of road – Locals urge for removal

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (MS/HB)

Udupi, Apr 5: National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is reportedly creating more issues to public than resolving them. Hundreds of such instances are seen throughout the district. At one place they have left the service road half done, on the other end one has to look for the service road.

When road repair or construction work is done, all departments that are involved should coordinate with one another. However, in Udupi district if one department start digging the road, the other closes it without the former’s knowledge.

NHAI has started the work of service road near Santhekatte-Ashirwad after many years of demand. However, they have not got three electricity poles which are in the middle of the service road being built. This is dangerous for vehicle riders and drivers who do not commute on the road every day.

Another spot which calls for danger is Neelavar-Pethri Road. Here the road widening work is in progress. The transformer could have been fixed while widening the road itself. However, it is not transferred and left as it is. Even a caution board is not put on the transformer. The government departments do not pay heed to the complaints of citizens. They ignore the issue.

Locals here are urging for removal of electricity poles that are left on the middle of service road on Santhekatte-Ashirwad road and also the transformer that lies near Neelavar junction.
