Bengaluru, Apr 5: Lambasting BJP affiliate organisation Sri Ram Sene for its attempts to divide society on religious lines, State JD(D) Chief HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday termed it as an insult to Lord Ram, revered by Hindus as ‘’Maryada Purusha’’ or man of honour.
Speaking at the Babu Jagjivan Ram birth anniversary function in the party office in Bengaluru, the former Chief Minister said Sri Ram Sene and different BJP affiliated outfits were destroying the communal harmony and peaceful atmosphere in the State.
He attacked the ruling party leaders and its sister organisations for raising emotive issues and issuing provocative statements as part of their divisive and political polarization agenda, which would be harmful to the State in the long run.
Kumaraswamy lashed out Higher Education Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan for criticizing the Telangana IT/BT Minister KT Rama Rao for inviting industries to invest in his State as Karnataka was steeped in communal unrest and said there was nothing wrong in the neighbouring State inviting entrepreneurs to invest in the State.
``We must first set our house in order and reign in all the anti-social elements and rabble rousers of the BJP,’’ the JD(S) leader said pointing out that no entrepreneur would like to shift to another State if a conducive and peaceful atmosphere exists.
Kumaraswamy attacked the BJP leaders for talking about banning Azaan prayer calls in the mosques by using loudspeakers and said the ruling party was raking up one divisive issue after another following the controversy over Hijab and Halal meat.
He urged Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai to prove that he is not a spineless person and is capable enough to control the rabble rousers in his own party.
Later, over 20 seers of smaller Mutts called on Kumaraswamy at his farm in Ketiganahalli village in Bidadi and the problems of the people.
