Udupi: Youth from Bengaluru drowns in Malpe beach

Udupi, Apr 6: In a tragic incident, a youth who hailed from Bengaluru, drowned here at the Malpe beach on Tuesday April 5.

The youth, who has been identified as Samrat, was working with a private bank in Bengaluru.

A group of nine youths were on a visit to Udupi to attend a wedding and Samrat is said to have fallen into the water while playing.

As soon as Samrat fell into the water in the northern part of the beach, a lifeguard along with locals tried to rescue him and took him to the Udupi district hospital for treatment. On examination, doctors declared him dead.

Malpe police visited the spot of the incident and are investigating. A case has been registered.
