Mangaluru, Apr 6: City Police Commissioner N Shashikumar on Wednesday, April 6 said that the police department will serve notices to industrial, commercial, residential areas and silence zones as per the notification of the union ministry of environment and forest to maintain the ambient noise standards as per Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules 2000 amended 2010 framed under Environment (Protection) Act 1986 while using the loudspeakers.

Addressing the media at his office here on Wednesday, April 6, he said, "Under the Mangaluru Commissionerate, the police have identified 1001 such places where loudspeakers are used. As per the notification, notice will be served to these institutions to maintain ambient noise standards while using loudspeakers. Notice will be issued to 357 temples, 168 masjids, 95 churches, 106 educational institutions, 60 industrial areas, 98 entertainment areas, 68 marriage halls and programme centers and 49 other public places," he said.

In the said rule, the daytime time shall mean from 6 AM to 10 pm and night time 10 PM to 6 AM, he added.

In any place, if noise standards are violated while using the loudspeakers and sound is used louder than prescribed decibels, action will be taken as per the act, he warned.

    When will these nuisances stop idk, mangalore police has good sleep in night. But we common public suffer without sleep, so much of loud speaker noise and vibration shaking the window glasses even at 3 am and how didn't the police heard it the location is within 500ms from police station actually our house is fra from the dj playing place when compared to police station, but still no action everytime they attend call , book complaint and sleep peacefully, bullshit of dj killing people's sleep and complaing to police became totally useless

    We are always facing huge noise pollution in and around Bolar mulihithlu. It is 12.30 midnight 1st May 2024 loud speaker and music is going on. It is so annoying children cannot focus on studies during night time and working people cannot sleep. Why there is no law for organisers organising late night events in open spaces or private spaces. Please some one stop this nonsense.

    Please enforce this strictly at urwa market cricket ground. Even after multiple complaints to barke police station and multiple public nuisance reports on the KSP app no action has been taken. The residents are absolutely frustrated! Besides noise, there are instances of playing on the roads and blocking the roads, Eve teasing, public consumption of alcohol. It has become a total hooligan street! Being close to barke police station it is even more ridiculous given the lack of power the police seem to demonstrate

    Sir, One more important noise should stop immediately. That's while ministers are passing on the road that pilot vehicle on the front they siren very loudly by disturbing Pedestrian, near the schools Colleges mostly in front of Hospitals. Why that much hurry for ???. They are public servents and disturbing public. This nuisance must stop in priority basis sir.

    We hope this will be strictly followed - we are Senior Citizens and the Noise Pollution is taking a toll on our health. Time and again the menace of Shrill horns used by our City busses from early morning till late at night - all over the City ; has resulted in Students and other professionals Suffering, I fail to understand why the Traffic cops are not dismantling these devices and booking the bus Crew, Owners as well as the Garage ‘s that fit these illegal contraptions. Most of these horns are so shrill that it’s like the Ships distress sirens 🚨

    Guys i have a query. So at the time of mehendi or ross , no music from loudspeakers?? If tym the above time said 6.am to 10am and 10pm to 6am.

    Just use common sense. Why would the entire neighborhood want to listen to your Mehendi and Roce celebration ? Why would people going for duty, students studying for exams and children put to sleep would want to listen to your DJ's building shaking music, or the housie housie announcements ? Government is making rules for those who dont have common sense. Tell your DJ to turn down the volume.

    Please notify the dB levels so that we can keep a watch. There are a lot of apps to measure the dB level and complain every time it is above the limit. More work for the police department and I hope they are not biased as per religion.

    OK. First offense fine is Rs. 50/= only Second offence Rs. 100/= Repeated offenses would be charged Rs 50/=. Or option is available one time fine Rs. 1,000/= the continue life as before.
