Mysuru, Apr 10: Contrary to the right wing campaign against Tipu Sultan and the ruling BJP's decision to alter content on the Mysuru ruler in state syllabus text books, their own MLC H MLC H Vishwanath has flung a googly. “Tipu Sultan is the son of this soil. He is recognized by the whole world. Tipu Sultan should be seen with a clean, unblemished perspective after removing religious blindness,” said H Vishwanath.
Vishwanath was speaking at a book release function held at B M Shree auditorium at Manasagangotri.
Releasing the book ‘Tipu – Manyathe Sigada Sultan: Andu-Indu,’ Vishwanath further said, “Tipu Sultan did not bow his head to anyone. He did not kneel down. Will Tipu disappear from the hearts and minds of people just because his lesson is removed from the syllabus? Tipu was born as a Muslim, lived a nationalist and brought honour to India. This cannot be denied."
“Three political parties in the state are playing politics based on religion. The words, discussion, controversy and arguments of politicians should be people-centric. The silence of religious leaders is also dangerous," he warned.
“People are losing faith in the present democracy set up in the country. In recent days, society is being broken. Divisive fire is being lit between various communities. Such people should be sent to jail," said Vishwanath.
“All pay tax in democracy. But a certain class of people is not paying tax. So it is not right to prohibit certain community from carrying out business. I have exerted pressure on the government several times to correct the lacunae in it but they ignore me. The present government does not have the patience to answer my statements. My voice is that of a loner.”
