Aloysius College in High Festive Spirit with Acme, Imprints’ Inauguration

Mangalore, Feb 3: The annual fests of commerce and science departments - ‘ACME’ and ‘Imprints’ were inaugurated at St Aloysius College here on Thursday February 3.
Acme - 2011
The inaugural of 'ACME-2011’, was held at in the IT auditorium of the college at 9 am. The programme is being organized by the Commerce Association of the college.
G G Mohandas Prabhu, the president of Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industries inaugurated the fest. In his address, he said that marketing skills, innovation and creativity can turn crisis into opportunity. He insisted the future managers to imbibe the risk management qualities in their endeavour.
Fr Joseph Rodrigues, the guest of honour for the programme said that the commerce fest will prepare the students to be active participants rather than making mere recipients. At the same time he called upon the students to be on their guard by not opting for tough commercialism.
Dr Suresh Poojary, dean, faculty of commerce, Shobha Anchan, the staff coordinator of ‘ACME-2011’, Rahail Patel and Stefi Varsha Pinto, the student coordinators of ‘ACME-2011’ were present.
As many as 100 students from around 12 colleges in and around the state were present for the mega event. The theme for ‘ACME 2011’ is 'The Business of Music'.
Imprints - 2011
The inauguration of ‘Imprints-2011’ was done in the college auditorium by Dr Arunachalam Kumar, dean of KSHEMA. Delivering his inaugural address he said that the science fest is a good concept as it aims at merging science with social networking. Speaking further he said college fest brings lots of ideas and gives an opportunity for students to share their ideas. When science is taken as a hobby, no one will get bored with the subject, he stressed.
St Aloysius with its rich academic and other prospect can be considered as pioneer education center, he added. The theme of this science fest is ‘The Science Network’.
The highlight of the fest was the science exhibition. There were more than 70 exhibits from the host college as well as the participating colleges.
The students of neighboring schools, colleges and the general public thronged to witness the development in science and technology which were displayed in the exhibition. Students were also seen explaining the visitors about their presentation with zeal.
Dr Ivan Pinto, the staff of the fest introduced the chief guests to the audience. Fr Swebert D’Silva, principal presided over the programme. Ashok Prasad, staff co-ordinator briefed on the theme of Imprints-2011.
