Mangaluru, Apr 10: "Opportunities are plenty and each of them offer you whatever you want to achieve. Opportunities are waiting and you have to decide which one to choose and give your best to it. And you will succeed. But, remember one thing you need to decide what is  success, " said V Ponnuraju, secretary to the chief minister of Karnataka.

He was speaking after inaugurating a ceremony to mark the graduation day of Srinivas University held on Sunday, April 10 at Srinivas Nagar, Mukka, Surathkal here.

"Some may think that high-paying jobs mean success. Some may think that getting into higher education and entering into academics is a success. Some may think that getting into self-employment and creating employment and earning wealth is a success. But, in that success, you may or may not derive satisfaction which is an essential part of your success," Ponnuraj added.

He also called upon the students to decide what they are looking for. "What would you like to do with your life and with your career? Making money could be exciting but beyond a point, the money becomes just a number. Whether a high paying job and money you need is what will give you satisfaction, is what you need to decide. And that will decide whether you are successful or not," he said.
"Probably the scale of success could be that whatever you do, or whatever profession you are there in or service you are doing, if you are involved and fall in love madly with what you do, that will be your success. I am sure that all of the students are cut out for that," Ponnuraju said.

He also wished the students all the best and said, "To achieve the goal or the destination. Let your efforts become a penance in your career. Also, remember that you have been shaped by your alma mater and friends. When you succeed, please remember that the fruits of success should not only belong to you but also to your family, society, the institutions from which you graduated, and friends.  Great institutions are not built in a day or night. This institution completes 34 years and it will remain and grow even in the future. These institutions are built painstakingly. Whatever you do, do it with passion and dedication. Live a life you love and be happy. Ultimately your success and efforts should be to make you happy."

He also recalled his college days when he was a student.

Pro-chancellor of Srinivas University Dr A Srinivas Rao welcomed guests and gathered during the occasion.

The oath was administered by Mitra S Rao (Professor, Emeritus and A Shama Rao Foundation secretary).

In his presidential address, chancellor of Srinivas University Dr CA A Ragahavendra Rao said that students should have an honest ambition in life."Once you have an aim or goal in life try to achieve that goal or aim with hard work. Once you achieve that you don't forget your family, friends, and Alma mater. Students should remember that this institution is your second mother. Students should always remember their Alma Mater. And don't forget this relationship, instead, come and meet your chancellors and teachers. Whenever you come to the city, come to the institution".

Also, he informed that the students who studied in the institution have got three or more job offers. "I am sure that the graduates have taken these offers," he added.

"I am sure that any institution will hire you because of the skill development given by the institution. International companies have set up a skill development center at Srinivas University. Please take advantage of the skill development courses available in the college. The ambition of the institution is to give skill and knowledge to the students. Students should be a pillar of the family, your village, society, and the nation," he said.

"One should always have the time to meet people to solve their problems. Whatever subject you have taken, show love and dedication to it. As you become more and more knowledgeable you will become more and more humble", he added.
