Kundapura, Apr 13: Information regarding the operations of a notorious gang indulging in mugging and looting at night near Madamakki on the Someshwara-Haladi Road has gone viral on the Net.People travelling in the area have been advised to be cautious about the operations of a gang as one such incident has come to light giving enough credence to the information.

In a recent incident, attempt was made by this suspected gang to mug a family that had visited a home in Shirooru to participate in a bhajan meet. Members of the family who were returning in a car after the bhajan were almost mugged near Madamakki on the 5th milestone of the Someshwara-Haladi Road. Waiting to mug the family members in the car, members of the gang arrive in an inebriated state all of a sudden in two auto rickshaws and create a scene by shouting abuses at the family.

The gang then flashes the headlights of the auto rickshaw on the car passengers and hides the number plate of the auto. Due to a heavy downpour in the area on the said night, the mobile networks fail even though the family travelling in car makes fervent attempts to shout for help.

One of the gang members attempts to snatch a gold chain from a boy seated in the car and the members who came in bikes exhibit hooliganism. This incident has tarnished the image of the local autorickshaw drivers who have been told to help in nabbing the members of the gang, the viral message said.
