IT major Infosys says it won't work with Russian clients

Bengaluru, Apr 13 (IANS): Infosys CEO and MD Salil Parekh said on Wednesday that the company won't work with any Russian clients.

"We work with no Russian clients and the work we do is with a small number of global clients in Russia, and we have started transitioning," Parekh stated.

"We have no impact on our business from an Infosys perspective given what is going on. We are providing reskilling for individuals that are displaced and see as they move to other locations in Eastern Europe.

"Given what is going on in the region, we have started to transition all our work from our centres in Russia to our centres outside Russia. We have less than 100 employees in Russia," he added.

In Europe, Infosys as a company would very much like to see the two sides (Russia and Ukraine) come together and come to some agreement on peace, Parekh said adding: "We have launched a fund, $1 million, to help in the humanitarian areas."

As if Russian client declared war against Ukrain? Is Infosys not using any of the Russian made technology or systems? What about military wepons that India uses from Russia? Is Infosys not part of India? Is Indian military not protecting Infosys? What politics is it? Infosys as a company should not mess with the politics at International level.

@ Priya.., you have a point to ponder..., but the underlying point is that it is a matter to be understood as litterate vs illiterate, informed vs ill informed decision.., If Infosys fail to disown Jokara Gang Russia...then Infosys will loose all its US clients due to non-compliance clause...,

The decision is under business compulsion...., since the top clients of Infosys are from US, obviously the trade compliance norms of US business engagement forced Infosys from surrendering its business interest with Russia....., after all literate & noble think tank take the right decision in the best long interest of all stake holders of the Company...... must be appreciated...

This is exact problem of the world today . Everyone are so politically biased and involved these days that, everyone carries an agenda. Infosys is doing this at the cost of 1000s of employees and their future by taking a Geo political stand because it’s founder Son in law is involved in Western politics. It’s a family decesion more than a company . Did Russian client declare war on Ukraine ? In other sense , why would NATO try to interfere in belly of Russia ? They did divide the erstwhile USSR which was answer for Polarisation of Western power .

Since it has very limited business in Russia speaking against Russia to garner US and Europe sympathy and appreciation in return to get more big projects. Indians are number 1 in Chaplusi. Apna faide k liye kutch bhi kar sakte hai. Had Infosys had huge projects from Russia. It would have not made such statement.
