Mangalore: Diocesan Parishioners Throng Eucharistic Procession

Mangalore, Feb 6: The Eucharistic procession and inaugural of diocesan post centenary jubilee was held here on Sunday February 6.
The Holy Mass was offered by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza at Milagres Church, along with many diocesan priests at 3.00 pm on Sunday.
The Eucharistic procession was followed by the Holy Mass from Milagres Church to Rosario Cathedral, on Sunday evening.
ICYM diocesan director Fr Onil D’Souza, in his homily, said that the Eucharist is a symbol of love and unity. He cited the quote by the late John Paul II – “The role of youth is significant in sustaining the Christian faith”. He said that since this year is dedicated to the youth by Holy See, the parents are urged to support the youth and guide them in sustaining faith.
An adoration of the Holy Eucharist and blessings were held on the occasion.
Bishop D’Souza unveiled the diocesan post centenary jubilee logo assisted by Fr Francis Rodrigues.
Diocesan vicar general Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu, Udupi deanery vicar Fr Baptist Menezes, liturgical Episcopal Fr Rony Prabhu, diocesan chancellor Fr Henry Sequeira, CRI president Sr Cecilia Mendonca, Rosario parish priest Fr Stany Goveas, senate council secretary Fr J B Crasta, Rosario parish council vice-president Dolphy D’Souza, deanery vicars, and lay representatives were present on the dais.
The Bishop distributed the jubilee candles to 15 deanery vicars on the occasion.
He also presented pilgrimage of Holy Cross to Fr Valerian Pinto, deanery vicar and parish priest of Holy Cross Parish, Cordel, which will be placed for veneration at the Cordel parish for a few days and ceremoniously handed over to Shaktinagar parish. The pilgrimage of Holy Cross will cover 158 parishes across the diocese in the jubilee year.
In his message to the large gathering at Rosario Cathedral open grounds, the Bishop said that during the diocesan jubilee year the parishioners are urged to encourage youth to opt for the vocation. He urged the parishioners to observe a day of fasting and penance when the Holy Cross makes its pilgrimage into their parishes and also pardon those who erred in order to lead life in Christ.
Fr Vijay Lobo, director, Canara Communications, screened a documentary on the life of the late Pope John Paul II. The beatification process of Pope John Paul II is underway at the Vatican.
A large number of faithful were present through the Holy Mass and partook in the Eucharistic procession and all the religious ceremonies.
