Mangalore/Udupi, Feb 8:
The sleuths of Lokayukta on Tuesday February 8 raided commercial tax office situated near PWD office in Mangalore, and caught Somshekar who was working as a vat tax assistant commissioner. He was taking the bribe of Rs 2000 from Manoj to allot him the TIN number and certificate of registration.

The raid was conducted under the guidance of Lokayukta Inspector Uday Nayak, SP Jagamayyanavar Sadananda Varnekar, Circle Inspector of Police Lokayukta, Uday Nayak also took part in the raid operation.

In another raid operation that occurred on the same day in Udupi, Lokayukta police traced a village accountant Gururaj, when he was taking bribe of Rs 15000 from Harishchandra for availing him the NOC (No Objection Letter) for his land.

It is apparent that some of the government officials in the district are not distressed by the repeated raid being done by Lokayukta as repeated corruption cases are reported in short span of time.

While giving special credit to Lokayuktha,I really wonder how these men are not able to catch anyone who is indulged so much in collecting bribes, while we read only 2000,15000 Rs.If anyone enter the RTO, each & every pillar there is involved in corruption, without agents nothing is moving inside the office.Everyday lakhs of rupees exchange hands, but Lokayuktha is hardly finding anyone, once in a blue moon they find one small catch here & there & thats being published as if they won a big war on corruption.Commercial tax officers will not move any papers without bribes, else no one will give in lakhs for a post in Commercial tax.

It was highlighted many times in the past the need of publishing the Lokayuktha's findings & punishment given either termination,or stripping of the illearned money/wealth,but no one open their mouth regarding the proceedings of the people who were caught of black money & the unaccounted money. Is this another side of the political drama we see everyday?? one must definetly doubt the credibility of Lokayuktha as there is no one who is terminated or not even a case were a guilty is punished.

This is joke and the Lokayukta is arresting some one who has taken 2000 as bribe. Let the Lokayukta dare to raid and arrest political goons who take crores for allotment of industrial and educational licenses. Why cant Lokayukta raid the offices of Yeddys and Reddys... They dare not...Policians are not caught red handed but there are lobbyists who are collecting funds for these politicians. Once prima facie evidence is gathered, these goons must be thrown behind bars and all their properties to be confiscated and bank accounts need to be frozen. India and especially Karnataka is leaidng the world in corruption and this is what excactly the BJP has achieved in Karnataka.... Jai ho Nagesh Nayak...
