Mangalore: Public Rally Demands CBI Inquiry Into Church Attacks

Mangalore, Feb 12: Under the auspices of Mangalore Central Committee ® and a number of other organizations, a public rally culminating in a protest meeting, was organized in the city on Friday February 11. The protestors demanded for the release of innocent victims, who they claimed, have been jailed in connection with various cases hoisted against them, and also to entrust inquiry into the 2008 church attack cases in the state, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

The rally was taken out from near Kudroli Jodu Masidi, and the protest meeting was organized in front of the office of Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner.

District president of Komu Sauharda Vedike, Suresh Bhat Bakrabail, inaugurated the rally. Mangalore Central Committee president, M Abdul Aziz Kudroli, presided over the protest meeting. Convener of the committee, Ali Hassan, delivered introductory address. State general secretary of the Vedike, K L Ashok, delivered the main address.

Udupi NCHRO president, Fr William Martis, State Women’s Commission former chairperson, Philomena Peris, Fr Alwyn Colaco of Karnataka Mission Network, Mohammed Kunhi of the youth wing, Karnataka State Sunni Students Federation treasurer, N Shaffi Saadi, and others addressed the protestors.

People’s Union for Civil Liberties state president, P B D’Sa, Asif Khader of Royal Friends Circle, president of Residential Association in the city, Haji Mohammed, and others were at the dais.  The speakers condemned the transfer of Puttur assistant superintendent of police, Amit Singh, and demanded for his reinstatement. The organizations have planned for a protest demonstration in front of the office of the state director general of police in Bangalore on February 15, demanding for the cancellation of Singh’s transfer order.

Sabina, daughter of Mohammed Ali from Ullal Mukkacheri, claimed that her father, who was arrested by projecting him as a suspected terrorist, is innocent.

B Vishnumurty of Bandaru Shramikara Sangha welcomed. General secretary of Mangalore Central Committee, Ashraf Kinara, presented the programme.

    The CBI should definitly get into the cause of Church attacks and also the reason behind it. The main perpetrators who are the root cause of all these commotion i.e the people who published leaflets with derogatory remarks against the Majority community should be held responsible and taken to trial.

    Why all are forget about Varanashi Serial Bomb blast. It was in the news only for 2 days. It was a serial bomb blast but luckily only one baby died. Is Bombing Hindu temples constitutional right of Minorities?

    The Road looks very empty at the time of this Rally, because normally there are more people walking on these roads than the participants of this rally. I think the people have distanced themselves from this rally as they know who are behind this rally!

    This is a politically motivated 'Public Rally Demands CBI Inquiry Into Church AttacksVerdict'...why enquiry thu CBI for a religious/local issue!!!..its conspiracy to disgrace CBI!!!...if anything community is expecting it should be thru goood mutual understanding with the majority community..after all locals dont want any communal unrest ..churchs also should be used as peace centre not centre for dispute issues...better community should not drag the issue for political benifit and majority gets united, again safron will get mileage!!!     The attacks on the Catholic Church has to be investigated by CBI and the preperators of this henious crime has to be punished. The allegations these fringe groups and the Someshekar Report have levelled has got nothing to do with the Catholic Church as it does not believe in conversions. Christians need to unite at this need of the hour, look at Egypt, the power of people can topple Dictators....and we can do it too!

    Unless n untill CBI enquiery is done we need to fight with this corrupt biased BJP Govt. I hope on 14th Valentine day Yeddy will get shock of his life from High Court on 5 Indipendent MLA's Case. Yeddys days are measures just one more month left. Supreme court verdict in case of 11 rebell MLA's too is expected soon. Hope these judges make right judgement.
