Mangaluru, May 2: Former MLA Ramanath Rai said, “BJP has a misconception that they will secure votes in the name of religion and not by development. A day will come when BJP will regret.”
Addressing media here on Monday May 2, Rai said, “The commercial LPG price and the prices of petrol and diesel price been hiked is affecting the public. The government has failed to control the rising prices. The negligence of the central government is burdening the public. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held the state governments responsible for the high prices of fuel. During the Manmohan Singh government, the then opposition BJP were protesting on the streets over fuel price hike. The then Congress government never blamed state government for the same.”
He further said, “The BJP also blames Congress every now and then if any riot takes place for which they cannot give any proof. So far, none of the Congress representative names are mentioned in any murder FIRs. I challenge the BJP to show me the names of Congress leaders in such cases. The Congress has not involved in any single provocative speech which disrupts the harmony of the society. We always emphasize in maintaining peace and harmony. The then state government led by Siddaramaiah introduced several pro-people schemes and he never failed in it. The BJP has the misconception that they will secure vote in the name of religion and not by development. They will regret about this very soon.”
District Congress president Harish Kumar, Congress leaders Shashidhar Hegde, Appi, Naveen D’Souza and others were present.
