Karkala, May 2: A case is registered against Shankara Mera in the city police station here for allegedly creating fake land documents showing that he is the only son to his parents, though he has four sisters.
A case in this connection is filed by his sister Bhagirathi. As per the details, Mayila Aslar alias Mayila Mera has five children Gulabi, Bhavani, Vinoda, Bhagirathi and Shankara Mera. He owned a 2.26 acre land on survey number 224/1 at Sooda village. However, Mayila Mera did not register any documents in this regard when he was alive.

After the death of his father, Shankara Mera created fake documents with the help of village accountant Ramesh Devadiga who was close to the family.
In this fraud, locals Benjamin D’Souza Sooda, Jayaram Shetty Sooda, Suraj Kulal Sooda, Chandrakala Jogi Sooda and Ramesh Jogi Sooda have reportedly cooperated and signed the document.
When one of the sisters of accused Shankar, got the documents from the taluk office and went through it, the fraud came to light. The complainant also expressed suspicion on a former panchayat member of involvement in the fraud.
