Dubai, Feb 15: Kanara Entrepreneurs Ltd. (KEL) are pleased to announce their next session – ‘Protection for Expats thru proper Insurance’ open to all interested in understanding the importance of protection against debts and liabilities in the untimely event of disability or death.  The focus of this seminar is to educate ways and means by which an expatriate can ensure that the burden of the debts and liabilities that one has incurred in the form of either personal loans, credit card dues, mortgages or even business loans, are settled through his Insurance and not passed on to one’s immediate family in the event of one’s untimely death or disability.

While there are several insurance companies in the market today that are eager to sell their products, very rarely does one come across a good Independent Financial Advisor who will take the time to understand one’s current financial status and lifestyle, and then recommend the right insurance solution tailored to address one’s specific needs and requirements.

Although insurance awareness has increased significantly over the last few years, there are still a large number of expatriates who are as yet ‘unprotected’, and consider insurance to be simply “another cost”. As a result, when disaster strikes in the form of an unforeseen disability or worse, an ‘untimely death’, these same people end up adding to their families’ burden, by leaving them with huge debts and liabilities, and no easy means to pay them off - a situation that could easily be avoided by putting in place an appropriate insurance policy.

Insurance has to be a very important part of one’s portfolio. While our own LIC was/is selling silly products with the name of money back guarantee etc, which isn’t really insurance in the true sense, unless someone is ready to pay expensive premium.

In the west however insurance is cheap and affordable, but the real problem comes not with the products, but the way it is sold by many agents, it’s common to show huge returns on illustrations only to realize that your money has lost its value over a period of time. There are lot of people who have lost money or unable to continue paying their premium after their working life. The fact that you are an expat and have to go back to India or any other country makes thing difficult. Therefore its very important to analyze each ones situation, understand the products and not get stuck into the wrong product.
