Udupi: Pejawar Seer Sri VishweshaTheertha Smriti Vana to come up in Neelavar

Udupi, May 5: "The foundation stone laying ceremony of late Sri Vishwesha Theertha Smriti Vana will be held on May 7,” said M Raghuram Acharya, diwan of Pejawar Math.

"Forest minister Umesh Katti will be laying the foundation stone for the project along with other dignitaries. Former chief minister B S Yediyurappa, during his tenure, had sanctioned Rs 2 crore for the project which is now being executed by the Forest department," he informed.

A two-care land is marked near Neelavar goshala for the proposed project. Nirmiti Kendra will construct the building at a cost of Rs 60.4 lac. The Smiriti Vana will house a 10-feet tall sculpture of the late Pejawar seer. There will be arrangements of walking track, gallery, and stadium like structure for audience etc.

A park consisting medicinal plants, flowers and fruits will also be set up. This place is set to become a tourist attraction in the days to come. An eight-acre land belonging to Pejawar Math will also be developed for tourist attraction at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore.

    Late Vishweshatheertha Swami was a saint and deserve this. He was a great social worker and contributed so much by giving free education to the poor children and allowing everyone into Udupi temple without discrimination.He never favored any political party and very secular in his approach. He needs to be remembered and everyone should follow his foot steps.
