Mangaluru, May 6: City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that he is gathering information about group that is trying to impose Fatwa culture of Taliban in the name of Muslim Defence Force (MDF).
Giving the details, he said, “It has come to light that since some months, young Muslim girls are warned to wear Burkha and parents of children who are loafing around in malls are also warned not to let their children go to malls. These kind of statements are displayed in Instagram page and WhatsApp groups. We are gathering information as to the source of these statements. So far, no complaint is filed.
“We are monitoring the people who write in derogatory manner on social media using overseas SIM cards. We have not formed any team to specifically investigate the MDF. We have not received any complaints also. When we receive complaints, we will take action.
“In addition to MDF, in various groups, activities of disturbing the communal harmony is going on. All the information of such people is gathered. We also get the mobile details of such people. One officer and six personnel are working continuously on monitoring social media,” he said.
MDF does not have any specific organization. Some people operate on social media under this name. Fundamental hard core religious matters are shared on social media in this name. Statements outraging the modesty of young Muslim women, if they do not wear Burkha are going viral on social media.
