New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi Wednesday met United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her residence here and invited her to his wedding scheduled for next month.
Varun, 30, son of BJP MP Maneka Gandhi, visited Sonia -- his aunt -- at her 10, Janpath home to personally invite her to the wedding, sources said.
The two also had lunch together during the hour-long meeting, sources said.
Varun will marry Yamini Roy, a graphics designer, at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh March 6 and the wedding receptions have been planned at Delhi and Pilibhit, which is Varun's parliamentary constituency.
Varun's father Sanjay Gandhi was the younger brother of Rajiv Gandhi, former prime minister and Sonia's husband.
While Sonia heads the Congress party, Varun and his mother Maneka are in the opposition BJP.
