Mangaluru, May 7: Cyber experts have warned people who have taken two doses of Covid vaccine of the possibility of getting cheated in the name of booster dose.
Fraudsters who call those who have taken two doses, introduce themselves as calling from health department and ask for personal details in order to register the name for booster dose. They get the details of Aadhar and later they get the money transferred to their account through the details obtained.
The officials of health department said, “An automated alert message will appear on mobile of those who have taken two doses to take booster dose. In addition, local health workers, ASHA workers will call on phone and visit houses. But they will not ask for any details as the health department already has the details which was registered while taking first and second doses. So if anyone calls and asks for Aadhar details, no one should provide the same.”
Cyber experts say, “At present booster dose is given free of cost for people who are above the age of 60. So there is a possibility that the fraudsters will target people who are above 60 years of age.
“After two doses of Covid, many has uploaded the details of their certificate etc on social media. Fraudsters access these and call the person. Some get emails also. Hence, everyone should be alert," they said.
