Udupi, May 7: Union minister for Agriculture, Shobha Karandlaje said that many Congress leaders are in touch with her and will join BJP in the coming days.
Shobha spoke to scribes in city. She said, “The BJP is a national party. From time to time, people from other political parties will join our party. Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is respected a lot overseas. PM Modi’s governance is all about development and honesty and is scam-free.
“The Congress is marching towards nadir due to infighting. At the national level, the Congress does not exist anymore. Many of their leaders will join us in the coming days. The doors of BJP are open to everyone. Only those who have criminal case against them cannot enter BJP,” she said.
When asked about frequent communal violence and Pakistan Zindabad slogan during Eid celebration, Shobha said, “NIA will investigate all the issues. The power behind such incidents will be unearthed.
Which country is supporting such people will also be known. If the support is within the country, the source will be revealed.”
‘Kurukshethra like situation in Karnataka’
“A kind of Kurukshethra is going on at present in Karnataka. There are two groups. One which is against our culture and ideology and the other which supports,” said union minister for agriculture Shobha Karandlaje.
Shobha was speaking after inaugurating the special executive meeting of Udupi district BJP. She further said, “We have to make preparations to win this Kurukshethra war. We never got absolute majority in all the 224 seats. In 2008, we won 110 and in the last elections we got 104. We had formed a coalition government with others.
“We never won a seat in the district of Mandya post-independence. However, Narayana Gowda won for the first time from there and he is the minister now. The BJP should win absolute majority in coming election and form government on its own. If we work hard in coming three to four months, we will definitely win with absolute majority in the next elections.
“Senior citizens in Congress are not happy with the leadership of D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah. Hence, many workers are planning to join BJP. We should think of the disasters that occurred when Siddaramaiah was the chief minister. Now, even before winning the elections, he has made announcements to appease minorities. The Congress is under the illusion that they can win elections only through minority appeasement. Due to this illusion, they have lost elections all over the country. But in Karnataka, that illusion is still there.
“We have to retreat the plot of dividing caste and religions. Only our PM Modi has the capacity to speak to both prime ministers of Russia and Ukraine at the same time. India is respected throughout the world. There is not a single black dot on the government of Modi. We are blessed to have such a prime minister,” she said.
District BJP president Kuyiladi Suresh Nayak, Kaup MLA Lalaji R Mendon, district in-charge minister S Angara, MLA of Moodbidri Umanath Kotian, president of Karvali development authority Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, state BJP vice president Nayana Ganesh and Byndoor MLA Sukumar Shetty were present.
