Bengaluru, May 9: Will the much-awaited cabinet expansion of state take place at least this time? This question is being asked by the political observers of Karnataka as chief minister (CM) Basavaraj Bommai is called again to Delhi on May 10.
The main reason of Bommai’s trip to Delhi is to hold discussion with ambassadors of various countries and high commissioners in the wake of the Invest Karnataka programme that is scheduled to take place in November this year. There are possibilities that CM Bommai may meet J P Nadda, national president of BJP and discuss about expanding state cabinet.
It is said that for the same reason Bommai has postponed his arrival to the city to Wednesday night instead of Tuesday.
There is a possibility of CM Bommai discussing inclusion of leaders joining BJP from other political parties. It is said that the high command objected the inclusion of many leaders including Varthoor Prakash to BJP on May 7. For the same reason, it is said, union minister Prahlad Joshi held separate discussion at Bengaluru international airport and convinced the top brass of the party.
If the high command agrees, the cabinet expansion is going to take place within two or three days as per party sources.
