Mangaluru, May 9: Six persons were arrested in connection to the murder of rowdy sheeter Rahul alias Kakke Rahul. The 27-year-old rowdy sheeter was hacked to death at Yemmekere ground on April 28.
The arrested are identified as Mahendra Shetty (27), Sushith (20) and Vishnu (20) from Yemmekere, Akshay Kumar (25) and Shubam (26) from Bolar, and Dilesh Bangera (21) from Morgansgate.
Mahendra, an iron mechanic is a Gulf-returnee, Akshay works as an AC mechanic in Abu Dhabi and Sushith is pursuing a hotel management course in a private college in Mangaluru.
According to the details revealed by the police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, the accused Mahendra, Akshay, Sushith and Dilesh had arrived in two motorcycles carrying weapons and attacked Rahul. While Shubam and Vishnu are also involved in the conspiracy to kill. Another 7-8 accused are yet to be arrested.
Rahul and main accused Mahendra had differences among themselves in 2016 during a game on Yemmekere ground. In 2019, Rahul attacked Mahendra and in 2020, he attacked one Karthik Shetty.
Karthik and Mahendra Shetty and his aides hatched the conspiracy to attack Rahul.
Among the arrested six, two have criminal background while all the other accused who are yet to be arrested, have criminal background.
Ten sharp weapons, 2 two-wheelers, 5 mobile phones have been seized from the accused’s possession.
