Mangaluru, May 13: Transformer maintenance campaign that is undertaken by the state government is going on at full throttle in the districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru that fall under the limits of Mescom.
This campaign, which is intended at avoiding mishaps during monsoon began on May 5 and will conclude on May 15. All 96,030 transformer of varying capacity are identified for this purpose.
The performance of transformers will increase due to this maintenance and also the quality. This will result in fewer interruptions of power and also prevent any electrical fire mishaps.
Bushes and thorns around the transformers are removed. Correcting the poles that are bent or loosening of wires, checking of busing of HT and LT, grounding of transformers, inspection of lightning arresters, inspection of breezer and radiators, checking for oil leakage, greasing if required are being looked into.
