Hema Malini Files Nomination for RS Seat from Karnataka

Bangalore, Feb 21, (PTI): Veteran actress Hema Malini today filed her nomination papers as the BJP candidate for the March three Rajya Sabha election from Karnataka.

Accompanied by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the party's state unit president K S Eshwarappa, she filed the nomination before Returning Officer, S B Patil, at Vidhana Soudha, the State secretariat.

Going by the BJP's strength  in the Legislative Assembly, Hema Malini is sure to get elected.
The bye-election to the seat was necessitated following the death of former Union Minister M Rajasekhara Murthy.

The winning candidate's term would end on April two next year.

Hema Malini's surprise choice for the seat has reportedly led to dissatisfaction among a section of BJP in the State, as she is seen as an "outsider".

Before the announcement of her candidature, the name of former Union Minister of State for Finance, V Dhananjaya Kumar, who is the Special Representative of Karnataka in New Delhi, was doing the rounds.

Malini, who completed one term in the Rajya Sabha in 2009, will get only the remaining one year term of Rajashekhar Murthy. The JD(S) leader died on December 6, 2010 due to a heart attack.

    @ISMAIL K PERINJE & Anil, Brahmavar:

    Don’t be surprised, this is not the first time BJP nominating outsiders to the “Rajya Sabha” from Karnataka, the main reason behind nominating Hemamalini is keeping in mind the Tamil Nadu election in specific and Kerala election in general. Tamilian and a celebrity, BJP can use her as a star campaigner to make some inroads and can try to open an account in the forthcoming Kerala and Tamil Nadu elections. It a well planned strategy from BJP.

    H.R.LOBO, DEREBAIL-MANGALORE-PUNE, are you a Sunday lawyer? Why should Hema Malini be disqualified. If any action should be taken, it is against Dharmendra. In any case, who is going to lodge a complaint? In family disputes, outsiders i.e. non-affected parties have no say. Even if somebody lodges a complaint, it is bound to be discmissed when none of the parties the other wife or Hema Malini will come forward to register a complaint. Better check your facts.

    Hema Malini can be disqualified on grounds of bigamy. She married Dharmendra, who was already married under the Hindu Marriage Act, who remarried/married a second time without legally divorcing his first legally wed wife! ( mother of his three sons!)

    Why Ms. Hema Malini feeling so uncomfortable to shake hand with Mr.Yeddi?

    Why Mr. K S Eshwarappa’s face turned so terrible and great insult in his face. Now looking at this situation I bet the dream girl will focus only on her dreams and she will never bother to care CM, BJP members, workers, or Citizens. This is a gift to Ms. Hema from BJP leaders because she did canvassing for BJP in north.

    Can CM, BJP state leaders, RSS, and its group have the guts to say any thing Ms. Hema about the Karnataka States development or any needs? NO….. NO……NO….

    Can Ms. Hema do some good deeds to State looking at corruption and is she able to convince to BJP leaders about it.

    Karnataka State citizens it is our faith, bad luck and fortunate. Awake Karnataka Citizens and if you neglect, death will capture us all.
