UAE: M'lorean Teen Talks his Way to World Debating Championship

Dubai, Feb 23: 17-year-old oung debater Deepak Nayak  has won laurels for his debating skills by participating in the Eurasian Interschool Debate championship held in Turkey held in January this year. The Gems Academy also chose him to attend the Model United Nations for high school students held at Harvard University, Boston, USA. 

Deepak, who is doing his yr 13 A level at Cambridge International School, Dubai, has exhibited his debating skills  on many a occasion.  The family who hails from Chilimbi in Mangalore, is the son of a Consultant Neurologist  practicing in Kuwait and Al Qassimi Hospitals in Sharja, UAE. 

Deepak who is a voracious reader and debater writes regularly for the school  magazine  and also contributes to Gulf News on important issues such as our beliefs, on government policies and proposals and on how to improve the world or  to face problems in the society.  

He won the Emirates Literary Award during the Emirates International Book Festival held at Dubai Festival City, sponsored by Emirates Airlines in Dubai in 2009.  Deepak also secured the ‘Best Delegate Award’ for the MUN Security Council at this event .  At ‘Dubai Debate 2011’, an interschool debate, Deepak won  the runner-up award in the individual category held at Jumeirah College.
